Adults yell BINGO!

We are trying something new in our summer programming this year. We have included BINGO cards for our adult members. Three different cards have been created where members are asked to complete various reading, summer, or library related activites and then mark off those activities on their cards. After fulfilling a row, either across, down, or diagonally the cards can be turned in for a chance to win books and other prizes from the library. We hope to see many of our members join in on this new adventure.

Waves crash at the library

This week visiting members have found the library turned into an underwater world. Jellyfish, turtles, crabs and other sea life float around as the waves crash overhead. All of this in celebration of a "Make a Splash" summer. With reading logs and programming planned for children through adults, this summer is sure to be a busy one. More information on programs coming soon.

Storytime at the library

There are few things greater in life than a stack of books and a quite place to read, except maybe storytime with Jane and Lillian. For those of you who haven't had a chance to join the preschoolers during storytime let me share the "normal" routine...They begin by picking apples from the name tree, singing a song and then comes Lillian. Lillain was, in another life, a stuffed lion that Jane has destuffed and made into a puppet that joins her and the children every week with little bits of trivia or a small poem, sometimes even a treat all prepared by Jane a week ahead of time. Today, with a much smaller than normal group, it was even more evident how attached the children have gotten to Lillian when they called for her to join them, and sang her songs, with very little persuasion from Jane. You would have thought the room had its normal 20 or so kids.

If you are ever in the area, and of course have a preschooler or two in tow, come and visit with Jane and Lillian on Friday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 and you can see for yourself the magic that is spun.
